Freaky Friday

Freaky Friday, things ain’t going my way
Everything is gone, my life is a country song, oh-oh

This is one of my all time favorite Aqua songs. And it’s perfect for Friday the 13th. You can’t help but bop your head when you hear this song. Freaky Friday.

We also like to honor Friday the 13th by watching horror movies. Sometimes we watch current movies, but more often than not we watch black and white horror movies. The old horror flicks are fantastic. It’s refreshing to see a movie that doesn’t have CG or any special effects.

Even black and white horror flicks are too scary for Ernie. He can’t watch!

This wasn’t a very productive knitting week so far, and I’m starting to feel the pressure of liberating 8 orphans this month. It’s the 13th, and they are all still being held captive! Typically, I relieve knitting stress by casting on a new project. In an attempt to create new habits, I decided to see if I could come up with some project ideas for the yarn I acquired last week.

This is all delicious Malabrigo Twist. On the left, is Twist in black. It is destined to become a Lemongrass by Joji Locatelli. My next pair of Rye socks will be out of the Twist in Sotobosque on the far right. In the middle, is Tuareg and Zinc. No definitive plans for them yet, but maybe something with stripes.

If I ever finish knitting my orphans, I want to become a cardigan knitter. I am slowly reading the Knit to Flatter by Amy and Little Red in the City by Ysolda Teague.  The Malabrigo Rios in Cumparsita on the left will be my first Ysolda Teague knit, Angostura. Next are Malabrigo sock in Alcaucil and Dewberry. Dewberry is my favorite shade of purple, and I love me some purple. One day, this Dewberry will be Poetry in Motion. No plans yet for the Alcucil, but can one ever have too many black cardies?  The colorful skein standing upright is Arroyo in Arco Iris. It’s probably going to become an Aviatrix Hat. Aviatrix hat is my go to gift for new babies.

Maybe this weekend, I’ll have my first liberated orphan. Stay tuned.
